Netflix streaming coming to PS3 in November

According to ABC News and the AP, PlayStation 3 owners will, like Xbox 360 users, have the ability to stream Netflix content. The service will be free to those with a Netflix subscription valued at or above $9.

Apparently, users have to insert a Blu-Ray disc from Netflix to activate the service, using BD-Live to connect. At a later date, a patch to the PS3 will make it available without the disc.

Netflix is included on a slew of different players, including certain TVs to specialized media centers, as well as the Xbox 360 (for Live Gold members only) – until today, Microsoft had an exclusivity deal with the company. While not all Netflix content is available for streaming, there are still over 17,000 movies and TV shows up for grabs. If only it were a global service.
